Guidelines for Tuition Assistance Fund

Assistance is available to current and new school families.

The services of Family Financial Needs Assessment (FFNA) will be used to determine the amount of tuition assistance available to families. No one from First Baptist Church or DCS will have access to the information required for the FFNA process. Only materials received by First Baptist Church or DCS from FFNA will be used to determined final tuition assistance allotments.

Families must have students registered for enrollment to receive FFNA application forms from the school office. Enrollment fees will only be refundable if DCS denies a student admission . Application fees are totally the responsibility of the families.

Tuition assistance will be limited to a maximum of 50% of a family’s total tuition bill, not including registration, book, lab, sports or other special fees.

It is the responsibility of the families to see that applications are received by FFNA by the deadline established by the school committee which is May 16, 2008.

All families receiving tuition assistance will be placed on a 10 or 12 month payment schedule, dependent upon their payment plan choice, receiving 1/10 or 1/12 of their tuition assistance as credit on each monthly bill.

Upon receiving the summary report from FFNA on or after July 31st, the following evaluations will be made by the DCS school committee:

If the total tuition assistance recommended by FFNA exceeds the amount available from the Tuition Assistance Fund, each family approved by FFNA will receive a tuition reduction proportionate to the FFNA recommendation.

If the total tuition assistance recommended by FFNA is less than the amount available from the Tuition Assistance Fund, the excess amount will be:

made available to additional families on a "first come, first served" basis and/or

kept in reserve for future tuition assistance and/or

returned to the endowment for interest accumulation

Tuition assistance will only be in the form of credit on monthly billing. NO cash or

checks will be given directly to families who qualify for assistance.
