Events This Week

School begins at DCS

(Continuation of page 1)

When we came back we had milk and cookies. Lastly, we had a “bonfire.” We lit a few candles in a dish and stood in a circle around it, so that we could not see each other. This allowed us to focus on God rather than each other or ourselves. We held hands and prayed for different things that were on our hearts. It was a very spiritually uplifting day. This is what the staff had to say;

Pastor Ben said, “I'm very pleased that there is a very good spirit amongst the students. The first day was a great kick off to the year as we set our focus on God and His plan for us.” Also, Pastor Matt said, “It was a good way of helping the student body focus on God and each other instead of themselves. It was good to hear the students prayers during the prayer rotation.” From the office was not the usual sigh of relief that another busy day was done, but instead Mrs. Brownlee had this to say, “It was surprisingly non-hectic.” Mrs. Hoover said, “It went wonderfully.” Pastor said that it was great. The Elementary had this to say; from Mrs. Fernandez, “It went exceptionally well.” Ms. Fran said, “It was awesome. A great day; I loved the milk and cookies.” Mrs. Bundy said, “Wonderful, no home work! 179 more to go.” Mr. Brown said, “This was the greatest day of the year.” All in all I think that the day went very well.

Spaghetti Dinner

To help parents get to know the school better, the night after school began the school held a spaghetti dinner. This allowed teachers and parents to socialize. The High School students that were present went over to the gym and watched the elementary. This let the parents meet with the teachers and staff. The parents also got to write notes to, and pray for their children. We thank Missy and those in the kitchen for cooking a delicious meal.
