Introduction

Dan became Principal of DCS in July of 2011, but he has been associated with the school since 1983. After joining the student body midway through his Junior year, Dan finished his high school education at DCS (then First Baptist Church Academy) in 1984. He went on to further his education at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and earned a BA degree in 1988. Shortly after that Dan married his high school sweetheart, also a DCS graduate, Diane Spencer. Since 1995, Dan has taught Speech, U.S. History, American Government, and Economics at DCS. He also served several terms on the DCS School Committee. Dan and Diane's daughter, Deidre, is a 2010 DCS graduate; and their son, Dan II, is currently in his Junior year at DCS. In addition to his responsibilities as Principal, Dan also serves as Athletic Director, 11th and 12th grade English teacher, 9th through 12th grade History teacher, and 9th through 12th grade Bible teacher.
