DCS Preschool Program
At DuBois Christian Schools Preschool, children are nurtured and taught from a Biblical perspective. Music, Science, Art, Math, and Language Arts are all expressions of God’s creation. What a wonderful way to provide a child with a secure and stable beginning to his or her education! DCS Preschool is an early education program with a focus on developing the whole child:
- Spiritually
Biblical curriculum, prayer, and a Godly teacher provide a focus on God as our Creator and Savior. - Academically
Hands-on learning activites for art, reading, computers, dramatic play, and more. - Physically
Hands-on experience with clay, paints, crayons, building blocks, sand & water, and other educational interactive toys are part of developing each child’s gross & fine motor skills. - Socially
Classroom experience and a well-supervised playtime are designed to help each child to develop a Godly sense of self and respect for others in the community.
A TYPICAL DAY
For 3 year-old preschool students, school is held on Tuesday & Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
For 4 year-old pre-kindergarten students, school is held on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
All DCS Preschool students will enjoy:
- Welcome, unpack & unwind; manipulative and puzzles
- Bible - Story, songs, verses & prayer
- Familiarity to the alphabet, numbers, shapes & colors
- Snack & Story
- Free play - outside or inside
- Circle time - finger plays, poems, fun songs
- Hands-on Learning Activity Centers, including:
Reading Corner
Art
Sand & Water
Blocks
Dramatic Play
Computer
Manipulative Listening
Occasional field trips
Adjustments to lessons are made according to the age of the child.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- 3 year old Preschool students must be 3 years of age by September 1st of the upcoming school year.
- 4 year old Pre-kindergarten students must be 4 years of age by September 1st of the upcoming school year.
- The DCS Preschool teacher will administer a readiness test for all Pre-kindergarten 4 year old students.
- Prior to enrollment, a family must interview with the DCS Preschool teacher.
- All students must be toilet trained.
