Fifth and Sixth Grade
Classroom Policies
Mr. Brown
Classroom Procedures:
1. Upon entering the
classroom, take inventory at your seat that you have all the needed
supplies to begin the day's work.
2. Upon finishing your
inventory sit quietly and read.
3. The bulk of class time
will be spent on classroom exercises, short lectures along with, group
work, and in class assignments. Any assignment not completed
in class will be considered homework.
4. At the end of class
students should make sure their area is clean and neat.
Classroom Rules:
1. Whatsoever ye do in word
or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and
the Father by him.
2. Be prepared for class.
3. Please raise your hand
and wait to be called on when asking a question or adding to class
discussion.
4. All school rules from the
student handbook apply.
Discipline
Policy:
The policies of the DCS student
handbook are in effect in the 5th and 6th grade classroom. Making the
right choices regarding behavior is the student's responsibility, thus
we will emphasize that consequences are a result of student's wrong
choices. Students in violation of the accepted practices
might find themselves with extra homework or assignments, loss of free
time at recess, or other separations from the normal classroom
activities.
It is expected that when we offend one
another that amends should be made. This could take the form
of apologies and/or restitution.
Grading
Policy:
Grades in 5th and 6th grade
are earned on a percentage scale, with 70% being the lowest passing
grade. (See the school handbook) Grades come from projects, short-term
assignments (homework, quizzes, etc.), and tests.
Except for extreme health
emergencies late assignments will only be accepted for full credit up
to five school days after the due date. It is my expectation
that all assignments will be completed; those submitted on or after the
sixth day will receive a 70% maximum.
Absent
Policy:
If a student has been absent,
he/she must check with the teacher for any missed work.
